This is my maternal Grandmother, Ruby Dewling. She was born in Boxey, Fortune Bay, NL. She trained as a nurse at the General Hospital and later worked as a public health nurse and taught at Memorial University of Newfoundland's school of nursing for 20 years. During the Korean Conflict she was commissioned as a Lieutenant, Nursing Sister in the Canadian Amy Medical Corp (reserve). When this photo was taken she was serving as Vice-President of the Last Post Fund. She is at this time (2005) Past - President of this organization . She has served on the boards of many community and health care organizations including being a past president of the Newfoundland Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society. She continues to be involved in many activities and loves to play bridge with her friends and spend time with her family...
