On July 3, 2003, I was once again on the
Mottak and travelled to the
iceberg near Spaniard's Bay. For the third time a narwhal came to
visit us. As you can see from the photos, this narwhal is a social
animal and seems to like the company of humans. Since the last time I photographed it, the narwhal has
been injured. It was cut several times by the propeller of a boat.
Scientists are not certain if it will survive. I apologize for the
graphic content of a few of the photos, but maybe someone will see them
and decide to Save the Narwhal!
